I is gonna make a first-ever concord grape pie today.  :bliss:

I finded a recipe on these here internets becuz my mom was telling me how wonderful they was when she was growing up but she never made one & Grandmother stopped making them when they moved to town.  :laugh:

It's kinda tedious cuz ya gotta squeeze the grapes out of their skins.  :tomato:

Sounds like my kind of 'tedium'.

yakO... that reminds me of a semi-unrelated story...  :book:

On Caturday I picked all of the rotting Silver Queen corn.  :yucky:

As I pushed the wheelbarrrow of to the compost pile to shuck it I was thinking, "This corn is :carp: ".

As I began shucking it I was thinking, "Eeeeew.... gross.... eeeeeeeeeeeeeew... etc.. " Every ear except one had at least one worm in it!  :uhoh:

So.. all I could do was pretend they was the worms from Men in Black & begin talking to them.  :happydance:



SUDDENLY, it began sprinkling & B put the Z-Force away & I hollered for him to come help me 'git r done!'.  :hayseed: :bsl:

He began going, "Eeeeeeeeew..... gross.... nasty.... sick... eeeeeeeeeeew..." (pey, he's more descriptive than I) and I says,
"It's not so bad,  They is the Worms from Men in Black & they is just about to play Twister.".

And when I got that corn cut off & cooked (10 o'clock that night :rofl: ) it was the BEST, sweetest corn we ever did grow.  :wub:

I think me & Spirit were on the floor about then.  :laugh:  He's been moving all this energy with me.  :wub:

When I've not been on the floor, I've been chasing vegetables & grapes.  :happydance:

I have, in the oven right NOW, what I believe will be :sparkle: the most wonderful pie on the planet :sparkle:

It was a total pain in the :butt: 'de-pitting' all those concords and it looks real driew what with wrinkled skins splattered about
but when we tasted it...  :faint:  :bliss:

First I tasted it & :bliss: ed out.  Then J tastes is & starts giggling so I give her another taste & she :bliss: es out.

Then.. I said to her, "I wish your dad were close enough to taste this before it goes in the oven." and I walk to the door & he's walking IN.  :sparkle:  The stuff is so good it manifested him.  :bliss2:

After he tastes it he starts calculating about how many pies' worth of grapes we have & asking about canning or freezing or whatever & I say..  "50 minutes".  "50 minutes til it comes out of the oven & we see if we like it for real".

Yes, grape juice.  :drool:  Concords are the real grape... just too sour (and seeded) for most peoples to eat as grapes. 

It's still cooling.  :happydance:  But the ffuts that ran over on the cookie sheet (it said it would bubble over) was yummy. 

It's got a cherry pie vibe, but it tastes like grape juice.

:carp:  As I am typing my husband is saying (in a high-pitched voice)..  "skeered........  skeered........... skeered............ skeered...... "  as he's walking through the house.  :hysterical:

He says he ain't thenthitive (like you), but he IS.  :pie:


After cooking the fisheggs grapes I poured a little at a time into a strainer & pushed the pulp through with a spoon.  Wasn't too bad once I got a groove going.  :elfparty:

Iffin I was doing larger amounts I would get out my Victorio Strainer.  8)

So yesterday afternoon, as I was getting ready to
take a boat ride and go purchase some doof...I
walked down the hallway.  SUDDENLY (I know)
the ground moved and moved SUDDENLY.  I almost
lost my balance. 

It lasted about 2-3 seconds, I guesses.
