ok.. elaborate...............
and you post away about the weather /storm

thingie
(it is windy / rainy here tonight too)
we have a carport at the street ...
built before we bought the house (so it must be about 20 years old now)
out of blackened (tared?) wood beams
had suddenly soft wood (rotten to sawdust) at the bottom of one of the posts --
cut that out and put the post on a metal foot --
lifting it away from the soil
so everything was fine for a month ...
had the chaniest weather now ...
one day warm then again a few cold (too cold here for june for sure)
and then again back up to warm - summer like
and today we spotted frseh new holes adn actualy saw a worm puch out the light wood from deep inside of the beam
(

that was fun to watch:
this little :worm: pushing, shoving that wood dirt out
and then quickly go back into the hole ...
I tried to catch it by its "tail" but it was too fast

for me)
Anyways -- there are more of those holes all over and hubby now wants to spray some chemical to get rid of the worms.............

is there a "gentler" way to get rid of them??
(OK, I can't take the beams and deep-freezer them -
but that would get rid of the worms for sure)....
