Oh and don't forget there was another GRB yesterday. I added the date thing to the end of the grb Alert :)

Don't forget that cloning tomatoes is fast and will save you 6 weeks on that whole "germination" thang :oz:

And when you clone, your clone is the same age as your mother plant and

will produce tomatoes at the same time as your mother plant.

It works really swell with other plants too. (like hemp) :muaha:

Thanks, sig.   Missed the grb & I HAD forgotten about cloning.   Gonna buy a few, but I'm still determined to get some seed started because I have some good & different organic varieties.

All I gotta do is get stuff established & then I can dance with the weather.  :bliss:

Sand... I did not know that.

You can buy something called a cloneator or make one yourself

It consists of a large plastic box, (one the light can't come through)

a sheet of fiber board, (water proofed with paint, I used white) with

2" holes cut in it, ( mine has 48 ) some 1/2" PVC pipe, 1/2" elbows, 4

spinning sprinkler heads, and a submersible pump. oH, and some 2" rubber

discs to fit in the holes. I can get you a picture if you like.

A picture would be great.  :)  Just from reading the list I'm wondering if I could make do with fish tank parts.  I think we have 8 unused aquariums & a whole bunch of filters & other miscellaneous pieces & parts.

The only way I've ever cloned was by sticking the cut stems down in dirt... shading them for a week or so then re-acclamating to sun & planting within 2 weeks.

:gaah:

Why are ya making it so hard :woe:

For cloned tomatoes just put a cutting in some water and wait a week a little fertilizer in the water will make the clone a bit hardier but isn't even necessary. I use old yoplait containers then recycle them :dunno:

If you want to use them in hydroponics then just put them in a big container with water and bubble air into the water with an aquarium air system. This just kills the bacteria in the water and prevents it from getting stagnant but you don't need it if yer gonna put the clones into the ground :dunno:

Also clones do not all share timing with the parent plant :woe: I have one tomato plant that is 4 years old now it all depends on how the cuttings are used :)

Actually, I think you're right in the middle of them.  :scartch:  Mom was born in Sept of 43 & Dad in Oct of 41.

:nana:

And no, they're not old.  They're pretty much the same age as me.

I seed them.

Oh!!!  Yesterday I went out after the rain & found soooo many things that had nearly DOUBLED in size overnight & soooooo many seeds I thought washed away had SPROUTED!

Seems the recent rain loosened up the crust on the soil enough for the seeds to break through.

That Nature is real wise.   :hail:

And no more will I doubt her wisdom.  :)

 The evening cometh.

It always does.  :)

Bedtime cometh soon at this longitude.

Gotta get up & make hay while the sun shines.

I gots 20 mater plants that all have 3-4 cloneable branches without harming the mama plant.  And some peppers & herbs & popcorn seeds & butterbean seeds.  :cheer:   They all wanna go in the ground.

They were all out of peanut seeds.   :bawling:
